Fair and free elections in Afghanistan

Elections in Afghanistan, positive news indeed, but the hype created by the media makes one wary. Who are they kidding? Why don't they make a reality TV show on this?

Who wants to be lead an autocratic goverment?

Hamid Karzai is a puppet and ex-restaurant owner (although he is well meaning, reminds me of Mohammed Khan Junejo, the hand picked PM of Pakistan by General Zia-ul-Haq), a namesake Pashtun.

Doshtum is a butcher who would never get more then 10%, i.e. is the UZBEK vote, he is the biggest joke, the biggest most brutal (yes more then the Talibans) warlord. YUNUS QANOONI and ABDULLAH ABDULLAH are Northern Alliance TAJIK members. They are hard core communist trained politicos.

60% of Afghanistan population, the Pashtun are not represented, when they are holding the reins of power (and they will be in the future no doubt about that) the repercussion will be severe.

This is the funniest, from today's YAHOO NEWS.

"Dostum joins Yunus Qanuni, who is expected to come second behind Karzai, and Mohammad Mohaqiq, another major contender, in backing down.

All three made their decisions shortly after holding talks with U.S. Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad, who has been influential in orchestrating the end of the threat to refuse to recognize the poll's result. "

Obviously the king maker remains ZALMAY KHALIZAD, ex UNOCAL employee.

In the end, it is a positive step for AFGHANISTAN, but it’s not fair and free elections, nor does it deserve the interest it is generating in the US PRESS. It is an autocratic government, like the ones the US has backed before. EGYPT, PAKISTAN, INDONESIA, UZBEKISTAN. Freedom is only allowed as long as it serves the interests and vision of the American Enterprise Institute. Everyone has the right to vote, but only certain people (and definately none of those Kandahari Pashtuns) have the right to run, sounds like a showcase example of American democracy.

Americans are more worried about the warlords and the Talibans not letting the liberal people of Afghanistan vote (the sharpie vs. the Pentel debate) and voters fraud, casue the ink is washable. Incidentally, all canidates have called the voting rigged, except the winner HAMID KARZAI.

Another excerpt from CNN On the vote
“Voting went relatively smoothly but stalled at several polling stations when election officials realized ink used to mark participants' fingers -- to show they had voted -- could be washed off.”

But for most Pashtuns, a tribal society, there is no legitimate choice. All there leaders have been banished, killed or in hiding. Plus the US/European based Tajik apologist for the new kinder, gentler AFGHANISTAN wants to take it away from the hands of the barbaric Pashtuns and the malicious ISI. Most of these are the middle class educated Tajiks, who left Afghanistan with portable wealth and settled in the west. They can lead Afghanistan into the 21st century as long as they don’t forget history, alienating the majority always has severe repercussions.

This article explain it much better

A US-centric analogy (even though entirely improbable) was if China decides that all White Americans are racists red necks who beat their wives and therefore America should be led by Eminem and the whole cabinet would be Hispanic, Asian American and black. I am sure that would cause some rumblings in South Dakota.

Waz up you all!
